This webinar is organised by the Institute for Sustainable Futures (a research institute of the University of Technology Sydney) in collaboration with the International Water Association’s initiative on Inclusive Urban Sanitation.

Women are under-represented in water and sanitation utilities, making up only 19% of employees and 20% of engineers (World Bank, 2019). Government roles and private enterprises in the sector reflect similar imbalances.

This webinar will equip participants with tools to address this critical issue by sharing the experiences of leading organisations and professionals in the water and sanitation sector and a purpose-built database of strategies used by these organisations to improve gender and inclusion in their workplaces. A panel of experts in the field will discuss the real-life challenges they have faced in creating change and disrupting the status quo, outlining the characteristics of an inclusive workplace and the benefits that flow from taking more inclusive approaches to their workforce development.
