By the end of March, the Training of Trainers for the Water Safety and Crisis Management Curriculum under D-LeaP was completed successfully. In a follow-up, IAWD took the opportunity to have the contents and essentials of this ongoing program presented at the 2018 Young Water Professionals Conference in Zagreb, Croatia.
In a two day pre-conference training, the practical essentials of our program were presented to the Young Water Professionals by Mr. Christian Plohberger, the program director. The training took place at the premises of the central Zagreb Water Treatment plant, with the support of Mr. Rene Matthies, the technical director.
In the course of the training sessions, the participants experienced the essentials of practical Water Safety Planning and Crisis Management first hand. In the course of the training, they were presented with flooding, pipe burst and drought / long winter scenarios, and were tasked to develop short-, medium and long-term solutions for each of these incidents.
Using the proven methodology of Water Safety and Crisis Management, the Young Water professionals were able to gain hands-on insight on how to manage a Water Works to best minimize risk, and during a real crisis situation.
Feedback on the presentation and on the content was very positive. We are looking forward to offering more programs on the topic!
