On 18 February an international audience received firsthand information on the recently adopted revised EU Drinking Water Directive during the first Danube Water Program KnowNow webinar.
Encouraged by the success of last year's COVID crisis response webinars, the Danube Water Program has introduced KnowNow, a compact webinar program with focus on relevant topics for the water sector in the Danube region.
The first edition covered the revised EU Drinking Water Directive 2020/2184, which has come into force in January 2021, whith a January 2023 deadline for legal implementation in the member states.
Bert Leemans, European Commission's DG Environment, gave a comprehensive presentation on the changes, challenges, impacts and implications the Directive will bring for the water sector of the Danube region, followed by a lively discussion between panelists Anna Pomassl, drinking water expert of the Austrian Association for Gas and Water, Mihaela Vasilescu of SC Aquatim SA Romania, Filip Wanner, Project Manager at Vodovody a Kanalizace Beroun, and an actively interested audience.
