D-LeaP, the Danube Learning Partnership, recently discussed the results of 2021, scheduled the tasks of 2022, and introduced a new Committee Council Chair.

The Danube Learning Partnership (D-LeaP) is a region-wide integrated and sustainable capacity building initiative. Carried by the partners, i.e. IAWD and national water utility associations, D-LeaP offers a comprehensive training curriculum for management and technical staff of water and wastewater utility companies in the Danube region.

On 23 November, D-LeaP's management and decision making body, the D-LeaP Committee Council consisting of representatives of all partners involved, convened to hold Committee Council elections and to discuss both the draft Annual Report 2021 and the Work Plan for 2022.

The Committee Council and everybody involved have to thank the outgoing Chair, Mr. Sandi Zulic (AQUASAN), and Deputy Chair Ms. Elisabeta Poci (SHUKALB) for four years of service during which the program and its network have seen rapid, successful expansion.

We also congratulate the incoming Chair, Ms. Vesna Muslic (AQUASAN) and her Deputy Ms. Maja Medenica (UTVSI) and wish them four exciting and rewarding years.

The draft annual report lists some proud results achieved in an exceptionally difficult year 2021: As of now, D-LeaP has established 21 Hubs, and thirteen of those have overcome all pandemic-related obstacles to deliver a program. Five Hubs ran a foundation program, eight a technical/implementation program. In total, 86 people participated in a technical or implementation program and 66 joined a foundation program. The range of programs offered in 2021 include two foundation, three technical and one implementation program.

Regarding the outlook, D-LeaP is firmly set on further growth. The partnership has demonstrated its value, resilience and sustainability, running its course even at the height of a pandemic that drastically curtailed physical instruction and training meetings. Which gives reason for optimism that 2022 will bring further success and full value for all those who attend.
