Back to back with the Open Conference Bulaqua 2024, fifteen trainees from Bulgarian water supply and sewerage operators participated in a D-LeaP training workshop on "Energy Efficiency in Water Supply and Sewerage", gathering knowledge on energy consumption and best practices for energy-efficient system management and control.

The workshop culminated in practical project work aiming at developing energy-efficient investment plans, evaluating measures like the replacement of existing hydraulic pumps and the construction of energy facilities at wastewater treatment plants and corporate buildings. Professional mentors provided by the organizers guided the participants through the process.

The resulting projects were then evaluated by a jury of experienced water professionals, with the representatives of the Water Supply and Sewerage Company Pazardzhik and the Water Supply and Sewerage Company Targovishte taking home the most appropriate, data-supported projects.

During the closing session of Bulaqua 2024, each participant received a diploma. Veselin Borisov, manager of Water Supply and Sewerage Energy Group Ltd., expressed gratitude to all participants for their hard work. He emphasized that energy efficiency in the water supply and sewerage sector is a priority for responsible institutions, given the market’s volatility and the challenges it poses to operators.

Jury member Eng. Lozko highlighted the importance of high energy efficiency in the sector and noted the measures taken by Bulgarian Water Supply and Sewerage Holding and the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works, including the establishment of Water Supply and Sewerage Energy Group EOOD.

We congratulate the participants and will keep reporting.
