Call it the final proof of an ambitious concept: Last week, fourteen live and two online participants gathered at the World Bank office in Vienna, Austria for the last and final module of the second edition of the Utility Management Training.
The two-year UMT training program covers six topics that add up to understanding the major processes and functions in a water utility, including Economics, Finance and Regulation, Commercial Management and Customer Service, Asset Management and Investment Planning, Network Operations and Energy Efficiency, Efficient Plant Operation, Water Safety Planning and Business Continuity Management.
The final Water Safety Planning and Business Continuity Management module inn Vienna consisted of two full days of core training in interactive workshops, field trips to Vienna’s main wastewater treatment plant and IAWD member s::can, a Badger Meter brand and leading monitoring software producer, exchanges with IAWD member Siemens and a final UMT get-together during which the participants pitched their graduation projects, making for a fittingly festive final event.
We congratulate the graduates who brought an amazing amount of motivation, energy and effort to the UMT and thank all the partners who contributed to an encouraging success.
